About me

ABOUT ME

I’m an author. A journalist. A storyteller. When not writing, you’ll probably find me reading something by the great thriller writers including Mick Herron, Ian Rankin, Lee Child, Ernest Hemingway, Agatha Christie or possibly some Nordic Noir.

I write crime thrillers (mostly). In between extended periods of procrastination, I’m busy writing The Final Deadline – a story about an investigative journalist’s fight to expose the London laundromat and the destructive influence of dirty money on politics and business in Britain. Screenwriting is a skill I’ve yet to master. Despite that, I’m toiling over a screenplay about a killing spree in a sleepy Exmoor village. There’s a political twist, too. If I ever finish them you’ll be the first to know…

I learned to write as a junior news reporter on a weekly newspaper, then honed my journalist skills at a series of newspapers and a news agency. At the agency, I wrote news stories and features for national newspapers in the UK and overseas. Later, I began working for tabloid newspapers in London before deciding to launch a PR business in Birmingham. More than 20 years later, I still have a PR business but I’m also an aspiring author. My experience covering news events of all kinds includes cake competitions at country shows to investigating grisly murders and major drugs operations. Along the way I’ve met some brilliant journalists and more than a few quirky individuals. These people and my experiences as a journalist have helped me to generate ideas for novels and short stories. To understand more about the craft of writing fiction I completed a Masters in Creative Writing at the Birmingham City University and can now be found regularly attending literary events around the country, meeting other people that love to write.
